1. PrtSc button
This first method is very easy, just press the PrtSc (Print Screen) button once, then your screenshot will be saved in the clipboard. Then, all you have to do is press Ctrl + V (paste) in the file, Paint, Google Docs or Microsoft Word to see the results.
This feature works on many laptop models and types.
2. Alt + PrtSc keys
When the Alt + PrtSc keys are pressed together, you can take a screenshot of the active window. This key combination will only capture the active window without including the screen background. This is what differentiates the function of the Alt + PrtSc keys from the previous method.
To view and save the results, you need to paste them into another application because screenshots are automatically saved to the clipboard.
3. Alt + Fn + PrtSc keys
On some computers, the Alt + PrtSc key combination alone usually does not work. Therefore, detikers can try pressing the Alt + Fn + PrtSc buttons.
4. Windows key + PrtSc
This method was implemented in Windows XP, but is no longer updated. Currently, you can use the Windows + PrtSc key combination on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and the Windows 11 series.
The advantage of this button is that your screenshot will automatically be saved in the C:Users[user name]/PicturesScreenshots directory. So you don't need another application anymore.
To check this, you just need to go to file explorer (Windows + E), then select the Picture folder in the left side panel (navigation panel). In this folder you can see the screenshot images you took.
5. Windows Key + Shift + S (Snip and Sketch)
This key combination is commonly used by Windows 10 laptop users. To activate the Snip & Sketch feature, use the keyboard shortcut by pressing the Windows key + Shift + S. This key combination will change your device's screen to gray and then the cursor changes to a plus symbol (+). This means that you can take specific screenshots by just clicking and dragging.
This method is similar to when we want to crop an image. The part of the screen that is recorded will change color to bright. Once finished, the screenshot will appear in the lower right corner of the laptop or computer screen. To save it, friends can switch to another application.
